No surprises with the 890, it tells you 'in 4.2 miles take the second turn out of the round about then the second left' and so on and puts a thick purple guide line on the map display It has too many features to list here, for example we are staying at WAX COE CG right now, all I had to do was type in WAX back down in Tennessee and it pops up WAX CG and not only that cut the RVTW distance for that suggested trip by RVTW from 190 mile to 150 miles and avoided Nashville. And I will have to say it has in 10 or 12 thousand miles never once missed a turn or shrieked OFF ROUTE. So I finally after watch a number of reviews, bought a Garmin RV890 nav system. I estimate it cost us at least an hour a day in lost time and who knows how much stress. This would put you really off route and we frequently spent 15 ro 20 minutes driving down narrow roads looking for a 60 ft diameter spot to turn the truck/trailer combo around. And it had an extremely irritaing voice when it shrieked 'OFF ROUTE!!!' repeatedly. It would take way too long for the gps to update the software and that made the software think you made a wrong turn or failed to make the right turn. The problem was that even tho I was running SA on a fast gaming notebook it was very slow, in towns especially. But have mainly used Street Atlas 2016 until this year. Both are rather old, I have copies of both. I resisted going to a dedicated navigator. For real time navigation I used MS Streets and Trips or DeLorme Street Atlas. I always double check my actual routes against Google maps which can catch any recent road changes.įor planning I use RVTW, RV Trip Wizard. As a side note, I upgraded to the 2015 version from the 2000 version and didn't see a lot of changes, but like all map things what you will loose with a older version is update/new road data. The 2015 version was the last one released and I doubt it's available to buy any longer, but if you can find a copy it will do what you want.

Unfortunately, after Garmin bought our DeLorme, they kill the software. The software has a bit of a learning curve but it's very flexible once you learn it.

You then find your stop near the icon and create a stop and it will adjust the remaining Icon's from that spot. You can set either a distance or drive time and it will pop up a little Icons at the interval you specify ( it can also do it for fuel stops based on mpg and tank size you specify). I use a old trip planning software, 'DeLorme Street Atlas USA 2015' that does exactly what you are asking. I don't know if there are any apps available that will do what you want.
